Russian metallurgical companies reduced the production of steel by 3 percent in January -August

According to the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, production in Russia in January - August 2013 decreased by 2.8 percent compared to APPG -2012 and amounted to 46 million 200 thousand tons. Cast iron smelting decreased by 0.4 percent to 33 million 500 thousand tons, and the production of finished metal rolling was reduced by 2.5 percent to 38 million 600 thousand tons.

Against the backdrop of the total growth of the Russian industrial production index by 3.1 percent, in January - August, coal mining by 1.8 percent decreased to 225 million tons, including the production of metallurgical coal coke, obtained by carbonization at high temperature - by 3.7 percent, up to 17 million 400 thousand tons.

Russian analysts associate the drop in production with a deterioration in the conjuncture in world markets.

Meanwhile, in Russia in August, the extraction of iron ore raw materials of underground production by 5 percent in August in relation to July increased. In January - August, Russian mining enterprises increased the production of iron ore underground production by 3.9 percent with respect to the APPG -2012, up to 15 million tons.
