The world's largest independent British trader, Stemcor, announced that Ralph Oppenheimer would resign as the chairman of the group. The 72-year-old chairman of STEMCOR led the company for 31 years since 1982.
This step followed his decision at the end of 2012 to leave the post of executive chairman. During his stay as chairman of the Oppenheimer, he ensured a long growth period, which led STEMCOR, the largest in the world of independent trading companies of steel. STEMCOR began the process of finding a new chairman and expects to soon make a new receiver.
Commenting on his retirement, Ralph Oppenheimer said that “it is a huge privilege to be the chairman of the STEMCOR and to work with such a talented team of people for many years. Together we conducted a truly global operation that are recognized and respected in the whole steel world. I leave a strong team. It is doing excellent business restructuring, and I am absolutely sure that it is absolutely sure that it I will succeed in promoting the company forward.
Julian Verden, CEO, said that "on behalf of the Council, shareholders of STEMCOR and all employees, I would like to thank Ralph for his outstanding contribution for many years, and his devotion to business. He played an important role in the formation of STEMCOR by the global organization, which it is now, and I wish him a long and happy life."
