The Italian steel company Riva Acciaio will resume production at several plants stopped at the beginning of this month on Monday September 30. This was stated by the Minister of Economic Development of Italy Flavio Zhanonato on Friday. "Riva Acciaio will open its plants on Monday," he said.
Recall that the Italian metallurgical company belonging to the Riva family stopped production activities at seven plants in Northern Italy and sent home more than 1,400 people engaged in these assets after 916 million euros in the Riva Acciaio accounts were arrested by the Italian prosecutor’s office as part of the investigation of the alleged ecological crimes at a metallurgical plant in Taranto Ilva.
The family led by Emilio Riva is accused of tax evasion, fraud and health poisoning of residents of the city of Taranto.
Riva Acciaio claims that he has no resources to maintain stopped metallurgical plants in working condition, but Prime Minister Italy Enriko Letta promised to find leverage on the company to resume production.
