For the construction of a new bridge in the north of New York, instead of the outdated Tappan Z Bridge, the French company Gerdau will supply 32 thousand tons of steel reinforcement. The French made their first delivery in August and will ship the reinforcement over the next few years.
"Tapan Zv Bridge" connects the Hudson River in one of the widest places. The updated bridge, which will be called the "New New York bridge" will have a double flight with eight stripes for movement, four stripes for emergency situations with one dedicated strip for bus routes. The project provides for bicycle paths and pedestrian sidewalks for walking along the bridge.
The main part of the metal rolling will be produced at the Gerdau steel plant in Sayervell, New Jersey. The first flight of the bridge is planned to be opened for movement in 2016, the second - in 2018.
