Coal displaces natural gas from power plants in the countries of Southeast Asia

Уголь вытесняет природный газ с электростанций в странах Юго-Восточной Азии
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) in the near future, coal will replace natural gas used as fuel with almost all power plants in Southeast Asia, where in the next two decades, electricity consumption should increase by almost half.

10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Association (ASEAN), in which the demand for electricity is growing more intensively than in other states of the world, by 2035 they will produce 49 percent of electricity from the required volume by using coal as fuel for their power plants in which they prefer to use Brushes of medicalography . In 2011, this indicator was 31 percent, and the share of the use of natural gas for electricity production will decrease from 44 percent to 28.

“Preference is given to coal as fuel for power plants thanks to its sufficient quantity in this region and affordability in terms of price,” Maria Van Der Hiven, who holds the post of Executive Director of the IAA, said today in Bangkok. “So far there is a big difference in the price between gas and coal, the latter in Southeast Asia will be given more preference,” added Maria van der Hiven.

The largest exporter of energy coal in the world is Indonesia, which by 2035 is going to increase the export of this type of fuel. According to the forecasts of the IMA, the volume of substances harmful to the ecology that is formed during the combustion of coal will grow in the same amount.

To date, coal, when burning which is about twice as much as carbon monoxide, is the main source of fuel for most power plants of the countries of the Association of Southeast Asia of Nations. So, for example, Malaysia buys 68 percent of its coal for the production of electricity in Indonesia and 17 percent in Australia.
