The US Steel Recycling Institute has become its 25th anniversary of secondary processing. Today it is a structural unit of the American Institute of Cast iron and became AISI.
Particularly pride and most important achievement, employees of the institute believe that according to the results of 2012, the level of secondary processing began to reach 88 percent (84 million tons), and since 1988, more than one billion tons of steel from recyclables have been released in the United States.
The main sources of metal scrap in the United States were cans, automobile scrap and engineering waste. According to the Report of the Institute for Secondary Steel Processing, the use of scrap metal in metallurgy made it possible to increase the total energy efficiency of the entire American steel industry by 33 percent and reduce CO2 emissions by 27 percent.
