Pessimism reigns in the Ukrainian steel market

The orientation of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine for export, today, like twenty years ago, is the main problem and can cause a chain reaction in the country's economy as a whole.

The debt crisis in the European Union, incessant conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa extremely negatively influenced the world's steel markets, where almost 80% of the Ukrainian metal production is delivered.

Forecasts for the further development of the situation for Ukraine, to put it mildly, are disappointing. There are no prospects for a sharp increase in world consumption of steel products in the world. And according to the construction variety rental, it will decrease seasonally. With the onset of cold weather, they will stop taking reinforcement, beams and pipes.

“There are no prerequisites for the growth of the metal rolling market. Even the fact that in November-December last year in Ukraine there was a decrease in steel production, the effect of a low comparison base will not be able to have a strong influence on the dynamics of indicators-there are no special improvements in macroeconomics. And this is a common opinion among the market participants,” said the senior analyst of the Art Capital investment group Dmitry Lent.
