Azovostal completely turned off the coke battery No. 6 of the previously scheduled period

Today, the Azovstal metallurgical plant completely stopped production on the coke battery No. 6. The obsolete battery became the third metinvest disconnected by the obligations recorded in the program of protection and improvement of the environment of Mariupol for 2012 - 2020.

As we already reported, battery No. 5 was turned off even earlier in June, and in October 2012, the coke battery No. 7 of the Azovstal plant was stopped. The closure of three long -uniting in the normal operation of coke batteries will reduce the volume of harmful emissions with a coksochemical production by 50%.

According to the Azovstal Press Center, the shutdown of the three coke batteries of the coxhoam was ahead of schedule and without incident. The production of production took place according to a specially designed technological process, with a phased shutdown and steaming gas collectors, gas pipelines of coke and domain gases, with the subsequent installation of a plug on automatic dispenser gas pipeline. The next step will be the dismantling and disposal of the structures of coke batteries.

“The policy of social responsibility, in accordance with which the enterprise of the Metinvest group is building their activities, and the Azovstal plant in particular, focuses on the priority of concern for the state of the environment. Our company pledged until 2020 an order of magnitude to reduce emissions of harmful substances. Currently, work in this direction has already taken a systemic and large -scale nature, and this is confirmed by the early closure of the three coke batteries of our plant, ”said Enver Tskitishvili, General Director of Azovstal MK PJSC.

The main reason due to which it was possible to abandon a significant part of the coke -chemical production was the introduction of dust -angle fuel blowing technology. The use of this technology on the Ilyich MMK made it possible to significantly reduce the daily consumption of coke and natural gas.
