According to Worldsteel, for 9 months of 2019, steel production reached 139.107 million tons, which is 3.85% more than in January-September 2018 (133.947 million tons).

The People's Republic of China is in the lead with a production of 74.782 million tons, which is 8.36% more than in the same period in 2018 (69.015 million tons). China's share in world steel production is 53.8%. In the ranking of 62 steel-producing countries, Ukraine ranks 13th with a production of 16.40 million tons, which is 4% higher than in January-September 2018.

Among pig iron producers for 9 months of 2019, Ukraine is in 10th place among with an output of 15.48 tons, which is 14% higher than the level of 9 months of 2018.
During this period, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world produced 1,027,310,000 tons of pig iron, of which 958,980,000 tons were smelted by the blast furnace method and 68,330,000 tons by the direct reduction method. This is 3.51% higher than the same period in 2018 (992.5 million tons).

The first place, as always, belongs to the People's Republic of China, whose metallurgists produced 612,030,000 tons of pig iron in January-September 2019, which is 6.31% more than in 9 months of 2018 (575,690,000 tons). The share of Chinese pig iron production in world production in January-September 2019 is 59.6%.

Germany took 7th place (19710,000 tons, or 96.2% versus January-September 2018), displacing Brazil in eighth position (19,650,000 tons, or 92.2% versus the same period in 2018.
