Steel production in Brazil has grown by 10%

In October 2012, Brazilian metallurgists increased the production of steel by 10.1% to 3 million 150 thousand tons compared to September of this year and 7.7% compared to October 2011, the Brazilian Institute of Steel reports.

The production of finished metal rolling increased by 4.7% to 2 million 300 thousand tons relative to the previous month and 6.4% to last year. The main increase gave the production of sheet metal rolling, while the production of a long variety remained at the same level.

However, if I take the period of January in October 2012, then the production became still lower than last year’s result by 1.8% and is 29 million 200 thousand tons. On the other hand, the release of the finished metal production grew in the first ten months of this year by 3.4% and amounted to 22 million 100 thousand tons.

Sales in the domestic market are three quarters from the volume of all sales and in October 2012 reached 1 million 800 thousand tons of metal rolling. For export, Brazilian metallurgists shipped 761 thousand tons of metal products in October.
