Metallurgical sector resumes operations in Hubei province

The steel industry and major construction projects in Hubei province in central China have resumed operations as the province's epidemic is easing. As transport restrictions across China were gradually lifted, Hubei Xinyegang Steel Co brought its first 52-man shipment back to Hubei from Shanghai on March 18 by charter buses. A total of 116 of the 270 employees for the Xinyegang blast furnace project have returned to their positions, and another 50 are undergoing processing to obtain the required authorization.

Meanwhile, large-scale projects are also resuming in Hubei. The 287.2-kilometer Hubei section of the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou high-speed railway was reportedly reopened on Monday, housing 244 managers and 669 construction workers. In addition, a major construction project in Shiyan, Hubei Province, China, the 19th Steel Company also resumed construction.
