Severstal commissions Cherepovets blast furnace No. 3

Blast furnace reconstruction using Danieli Corus technology using a cooling system and a Hoogovens lining

Russian steelmaker Severstal has successfully commissioned blast furnace # 3 at its Cherepovets plant.
This furnace was shut down and dismantled in 2007. In 2018, activities related to the project were intensified. At the same time, Severstal and Danieli Corus signed a contract for the design, supply of equipment and provision of services for the installation and supervision of the blast furnace and the gas cleaning system.

The furnace was built with a net volume of 3290 m³ and was equipped with a Hoogovens cooling and lining system selected by Severstal based on its excellent experience with this blast furnace # 4 design, upgraded with Danieli Corus technology in 2005.

Severstal was able to complete the start-up of blast furnace # 3 in accordance with the original schedule.
