According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), for the week ended May 22, crude steel production in the United States was about 1.79 million short tons, down 0.3% from the same period a week ago and up 54. 6. % compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 79.0%, down 0.2% over the week, but up 24.4% year on year.
As of the week ending May 22, crude steel production in the United States this year was about 35.68 million short tons, up 8.7% from a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 77.6%, which is 7.7% more than a year earlier.
