Emission quotas prices in the EU are approaching 100 euros

The European Commission estimates that by the end of the decade, emission prices could rise to 85 euros. According to many experts, this is a very conservative estimate. In their opinion, the cost of emission allowances will exceed 100 euros. And much faster….

The European Commission will present the draft ETS reform in mid-July. It involves, among other things, limiting the number of free emission quotas and creating a similar system for residential buildings and transport.

Experts say these changes will raise the price of carbon dioxide quotas above € 100 per tonne.
In mid-July, the European Commission is to submit a draft of the largest reform of the ETS system to date. It will form part of a larger set of regulations through which the European economy must meet the climate targets set out in the European Green Deal.
