According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), for the week ending July 3, crude steel production in the United States was about 1.84 million short tons, up 0.4% from the same period a week ago, and also an increase of 41.0% over the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 83.0%, up 0.3% over the week and also up 24.7% year on year.
As of the week ended July 3, crude steel production in the United States this year was about 46.9 million short tons, an increase of 16.0% over the same period last year. The production capacity utilization rate was 79.0%, which is 11.3% more than a year earlier.
