Application of waterjet cutting

 Применение гидроабразивной резки

Advantages of waterjet cutting

Waterjet cutting is almost ideal of all the manufacturing industries. In a nutshell, water jet cutting is a very fast flow of water with abrasive powder that helps the water jet to cut almost any material.

When using a laser, you need to expend a lot of electricity so that the laser machine can cut through thick and strong blocks of stone, but thanks to the high speed of the water jet with a very strong abrasive filling, it is possible to cut through stones and materials with high strength without spending a lot of energy. p>

An abrasive material in cutting can be either all sorts of hard rock, crushed into powder, or artificial diamonds, which are almost nanoscale, and as dust can effectively cut through any materials. The fact is that the water jet itself, even if it moves at supersonic speed, is a poor tool for cutting materials. At the same time, the water heats up in a rather serious way, boils, and there is no effect from such boiling cutting.

How does waterjet cutting work?

When adding an abrasive material, inexpensive sand, which is quartz, and this material has high strength characteristics, or when adding a synthetic abrasive, water acts as a delivery part to the place of cutting and cools the abrasive particles together with the material that is being cut.

Depending on the flow rate in waterjet cutting and the nature of the particles of abrasive material used, their size, density, physical properties, you can cut almost any surface - from organic materials to diamonds and very strong rocks like marble and granite .

For many decades, people have tried to create the perfect tool for cutting various materials. In the era of lasers, many believed that it was the laser beam that could cope with any work related to cutting materials, but it did not work out, because cutting materials with a significant thickness had to spend colossal energy to operate the laser.
