Customized design for harsh environments
According to Interpipe, high ambient temperatures combined with abrasive desert sands cause accelerated wear on railway wheels. To solve these problems, the company implemented individual design modeling and calculations for each type of wheel, optimized the chemical composition of steel and adapted heat treatment processes for maximum durability. These measures allow the wheels to maintain structural integrity and operational safety even under severe environmental conditions.
Interpipe has been supplying railway wheels to the markets of the Middle East, Asia and Africa for more than 30 years. Desert climates are often present in these regions, where sand abrasion and temperature fluctuations test the limits of railway components.
Compliance with international standards
Interpipe's new product range complies with strict international railway standards:
- Truck wheels comply with AAR M107/M208 and UIC standards supplied to Saudi Arabia
- Passenger wheels comply with EN 13262, UIC and IRS standards for Indian Railways
- The wheels of the locomotives comply with EN 13262, UIC and IRS standards for new locomotives in India
