The Vietnamese Vingroup has officially established the VinMetall Joint-Stock Company for Production and Trade, which marked its expansion into the country's metallurgical industry, according to media reports.

VinMetal launches with an initial investment of 10 trillion DONG ($379.35 million) for the construction of a high-tech steel complex in Wong Ang, Hath. The first stage will have a planned capacity of 5 million tons per year, which positions VinMetal as a major new player in Vietnam's domestic steel supply chain.

Product range and market orientation

The company will focus on a diverse product range.:

  • hot-rolled and high-strength steel for civil engineering,
  • specialized alloy steels for electric vehicles and high-speed transportation,
  • high-quality sheet steel and automotive body steel,
  • rails and structural steel conforming to international standards for bridges, ports and railways.

These products will serve both domestic infrastructure demand and, over time, regional export markets.

In the long term, VinMetal plans to become the leader in green steel production in Vietnam by applying carbon reduction technologies and using renewable energy sources in its processes. This will support Vietnam's broader climate and sustainable development goals while modernizing the steel industry.
