Import of slabs to Turkey increased by 11.5% in January-August 2025

In August of this year, the import of slabs to Turkey amounted to 411,473 metric tons, which is 40.3 percent more than in July and 35.9 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $193.62 million, an increase of 39.9% compared to the previous month and 19.7% year-on-year.

In the period from January to August, the import of slabs to Turkey amounted to 2.68 million tons, an increase of 11.5%, while the value of these imports decreased by 1.9% to $1.30 billion, year-on-year.

Import of slabs to Turkey - the last 12 months

During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of slab imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.36 million tons, which is 55.9 percent more than last year. Russia was followed by Malaysia with 669,663 tons, which is 30.9 percent less, and Algeria with 373,662 tons.
