In January-September of this year, the total volume of steel production in Ukraine amounted to 4.84 million tons against 4.82 million tons for the same period in 2024, according to data published by the Association of Steel Producers Ukrmetallurgprom. 2.92 million tons or 60.3% of total steel production were exported, while 1.93 million tons or 39.7% were consumed by the domestic market. In the period from January to September last year, 3.32 million tons or 68.9% of total steel production were shipped abroad, while domestic sales amounted to 1.50 million tons or 31.1% of total steel production. As a result, total steel exports fell by 12.2 percent, while total domestic steel sales increased by 28.5 percent year-on-year.
In the first nine months of this year, exports of flat rolled products decreased by 0.4 percent to 1.29 million tons, while exports of semi-finished steel products totaled 951,000 tons, down 39.1 percent from the same period last year In the specified period, exports of rolled products amounted to 676,000 tons, an increase of 45.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
The share of semi-finished products in exports in January-September was 32.59 percent, which is significantly lower than the 46.98 percent recorded for the same period in 2024, while the share of flat rolled products in exports was 44.24 percent, significantly exceeding the 39.0 percent recorded in the first nine months of last year.
