Coking coal imports to Turkey decreased by 15.3 percent in January-August 2025

In August of this year, the import of coking coal to Turkey amounted to 413,731 metric tons, which is 20.2 percent less than in July and 22.5 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $75.93 million, down 22.4% from the previous month and 39.4% year-on-year.

In the first eight months of this year, the import of coking coal to Turkey amounted to 3.25 million tons, which is 15.3 percent less, while the value of these imports decreased by 42 percent to $599.43 million year-on-year.

Coking coal imports to Turkey - the last 12 months

During the specified period, Australia was the largest source of coking coal imports to Turkey with 1.48 million tons, which is 29.3% less than in the previous year. Australia is followed by the United States with 1.18 million tons, which is 14.3% less than in the same period of the previous year, and Russia with 420,860 tons, which is 67.2% more than in the same period last year.
