The Russian steel company Severstal Steel Solutions, part of the Severstal Group, has opened a large steel complex in Orel, which has become one of the largest industrial upgrades in the Russian manufacturing sector. Thanks to investments of 3.5 billion rubles, supported by the Russian Industrial Development Fund, the new facility will triple its production capacity and increase employment for the local population.
The 22,000 m2 Severstal production complex is expanding the production capacity of the Orel site to 48,000 tons per year, including new 32,000 tons of production expected by 2028.
The project allows for a full production cycle – from cutting rolled products to applying final coatings – improving product efficiency and quality. Severstal stressed that this investment would strengthen its position in the rapidly developing Russian market for industrial steel solutions.
Initially, 330 new workers will be employed at the Oryol complex, which will double the workforce of the enterprise. By the beginning of 2026, employment will exceed 700 people, which will provide a serious boost to the regional industrial labor market. Severstal said that the advanced automation of the plant and programs for the development of local talents will ensure a steady growth of the workforce.
