Pig iron imports to Turkey increased by 64.8 percent in January-August 2025
In August of this year, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 84,855 metric tons, down 68 percent from July and up 156.9 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to $30.31 million, down 68.9 percent from the previous month and up 112.4 percent year-on-year.

In the first eight months of the year, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 1.49 million tons, up 64.8 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 39.4 percent to $543.42 million, year-on-year.

Import of pig iron to Turkey - the last 12 months

During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of pig iron imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.11 million tons, which is 92.2 percent more than last year. Russia is followed by Kazakhstan with 131,545 tons, which is 30.4 percent more, and Germany with 55,997 tons, which is 125.5 percent more year-on-year.
