Fire formations will be forced to use exclusively the services of the federal fire department. Today, hazardous industry enterprises, including large steel mills, are required by law to organize special structures to fight fires, but have a choice between their own departments and a contract with the government service. The new bill provides for a mandatory transition to cooperation exclusively with government services, which will entail additional costs for companies of about 1.1 billion rubles over a five-year period, according to calculations by the Russian Steel association. However, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations claim that this initiative is aimed at eliminating legal conflicts and increasing the level of protection of important infrastructure facilities in the context of mobilization measures.
