At the first National Stainless Steel Summit, organized by the Turkish Stainless Steel Association (PASSAD) in cooperation with Istanbul Technical University (ITU), held at the university on October 14, the main topics of discussion were increasing domestic production, sustainable development and industry transformation. In his opening speech, Haluk Kayabasi, Chairman of PASSAD, emphasized that the stainless steel industry plays a strategic role in the economic and social structure of Turkey, and also commented: Our goal is to work in cooperation with everyone stakeholders in the industry to increase production, closely monitor innovation and strengthen the country's economy. global competitiveness. He added that the main objectives of the association are to strengthen domestic production, promote the use of stainless steel and develop sustainable growth projects.

Stressing that Stainless steel is of strategic importance for both the defense industry and civil manufacturing, ITU Rector Professor Dr Hassan Mandal said: “Stainless steel plays a critical role in the green and digital economy. transformation process. Call for anti-dumping measures
During the session entitled “International Stainless Steel Markets”, participants discussed the challenges faced by the industry, in particular pressure and unfair competition. is created due to dumping of metal products on domestic producers. Speakers noted that trade wars sparked by US President Trump have negatively impacted the industry and that steel protectionist policies have also increased in EU member states. The session ended with a call for Turkey to take trade protection measures, such as anti-dumping duties on stainless steel products that are strategically important to the country.
