China has complicated the process of issuing licenses for the export of rare earth metals

According to Reuters sources, Chinese rare earth companies have faced increased scrutiny since September, long before Beijing officially announced new measures to control key mineral resources.

There are concerns that the world's largest supplier is trying to limit supplies of these important materials, despite its commitment to increase exports under the trade deal with the US.
