Chinese company HBIS Tangsteel has commissioned a new etching line at the plant in Laoting

Chinese steel company HBIS Tangsteel has reached an important technological milestone in the sheet steel processing sector with the commissioning of a new etching line at its plant in Laoqing in China's Hebei Province. The new facility combines high-speed operation, a wide range of thicknesses, and advanced automation, setting new benchmarks for strip performance and quality, according to British equipment manufacturer Primetals Technologies, an equipment supplier.

Exceptional performance

The new line, developed by Primetals, can process strips from 1.8mm to 15 mm thick and operates at speeds of up to 200 meters per minute. This makes it possible to process a mixture of products that is normally only achievable with two separate continuous etching lines - an important step forward in space and cost-effectiveness.

Modern finishing equipment

The new line includes:

• single-stage rolling mill for excellent flatness control
• Side trimmer capable of processing strips from 2 mm to 8 mm thick, ensuring high edge accuracy

These additions enhance the line's ability to produce high-quality steel coils ready for complex finishing operations.
