According to SECEX, Brazil's foreign trade body, Brazil exported 140,859 tons of finished carbon steel products in September at a price of 104.104 million US dollars, and imported 252,822 tons at a price of 176.279 million US dollars.
For comparison, Brazil exported 87,919 tons of finished carbon steel products at a price of 71.179 million US dollars and imported a value of 254,825 tons of 184.257 million US dollars in August.
The figures for September indicate a commercial deficit of 111,962 million tons against a deficit of 166,905 million tons in August.
In dollar terms, the deficit was $72.174 million in August, compared with a deficit of $113,077 million in August.
In terms of volume, the main exports in September were wire rod and rolled products HRC (23 percent each), CRC (18 percent), rebar (14 percent) and coated flat rolled products (11 percent).
The main imports in September were coated rolled products (47 percent), HRC (31 percent), rebar (6 percent) and CRC (5 percent).
