Japan's crude steel production decreased by 3.7 percent in September 2025

In September of this year, Japan's crude steel production decreased by 3.9 percent compared to the previous month and decreased by 3.7 percent compared to September 2024, totaling 6.37 million tons, according to data released by the Japan Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF).

Meanwhile, Japan's pig iron production totaled 4.61 million metric tons in the month, down 7.7 percent from the previous month and 3.9 percent year-on-year.

In the first nine months of this year, the country's steel production totaled 60.47 million metric tons, down 4.5%, while pig iron production totaled 43.95 million metric tons, down 4% year-on-year.
