According to the monthly consumer trends survey published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the consumer confidence index* in Turkey, which stood at 83.9 points in September this year, decreased by 0.3 percent month-on-month in October this year to 83.6 points, having previously decreased by 0.4 percent in September.
According to the indices based on individual questions asked by Turkish consumers about the consumer, in October the index of the general current economic situation decreased by 0.6 percent month-on-month to 53.8 points, and the index of the general economic situation in the next 12 months increased by 0.7 percent compared to September to 78.6 points.
At the same time, in this month, the index of whether the present is a favorable time to purchase durable goods increased by 4.2 percent to 54.7 points, while the index for the probability of purchasing durable goods in the Next 12 months fell by 1.6 percent to 104.0 points on a monthly basis.
In October, the probability of buying a car in the next 12 months decreased by 3.3 percent to 23.5 points, while the index of the probability of buying or building a house in the next 12 months decreased by 1.6 percent to 14.1 points on a monthly basis.
*When the index exceeds 100, it indicates an optimistic forecast, when it is equal to 100, it indicates a neutral forecast, and below 100, it indicates a pessimistic forecast.
