Chinese production (52% of global unrefined steel supplies) decreased by 5% year-on-year (-3% year-on-year for the first 9 months of 2025), while global production excluding China increased by 2% year-on-year, according to the WSA. In particular, shipments from Russia and the EU fell by 4% and 5% year-on-year last month, respectively. Meanwhile, steel production in the United States increased by 7% year–on-year, and in India (about 10% of global steel supplies) - by 13% year-on-year, as well as by 11% year-on-year in the first 9 months of 2025. There is a very big collapse in Germany, the car industry is on the verge of a complete standstill.
Global steel production in September fell by 2% year-on-year to 142 million tons, in contrast to zero dynamics in August.
