The projects include the modernization of dedusting systems, the modernization of the argon treatment plant and the overhaul of the slag granulation unit of blast furnace No. 3. system.
Modernization of the dedusting system reduces emissions tenfold
Modernization of the coke truck tipper dust removal system at a cost of 35 million zloty (US$9.63 million) It has already been completed, as a result of which dust emissions are reduced tenfold.
The new bag filter system captures particles with a level below 10 mg/Nm3, replacing the old electrostatic precipitator system.
The upgrade also includes new motors, upgraded fans and inverters, which together reduce energy consumption and increase process reliability.
Safer and more efficient slag granulation in blast furnace No.1.3
Another 30 million zlotys (8.25 million US dollars) are being spent on major repairs of the slag granulation system of blast furnace No. 3 in order to improve operational safety and stability of the process. Key works include:
- Reinforcement of the silo support structures,
- Replacement of granulation chambers and distribution tanks,
- Comprehensive anti-corrosion and painting work during scheduled shutdowns.
Continued processing of blast furnace slag for reuse on the road is a construction consistent with the principles of a closed-loop economy and waste reduction.
The modernization of the argon plant increases the efficiency and quality of steel
Another 30 million zloty investment was directed to the argon processing plant at the steel mill. The upgrade includes larger pipelines, improved fume hoods and new bag filters, which reduces emissions to below 10 mg/Nm3 and reduces energy consumption.
The argon treatment process improves the surface quality of steel and its mechanical strength, which are necessary for the production of high-quality products.
