India's Larsen & Toubro limited (L&T), a major engineering, procurement and construction company, has been awarded an order to build Tata Steel limited's 1 million tonne per annum coke oven battery at the latter's Jamshedpur steel plant, the company said in a statement on Tuesday 28 October.
Under this order, L&T is required to design, manufacture, supply, construct and install the plant. In addition to these major achievements, there has also been an influx in the total number of orders received by the company, mainly due to increased domestic demand for reclaimer stackers, car dumpers, crushers and surface miners in the mining and material handling industries, L&T said in a statement.
Although the company did not disclose the value of the order, it was classified under L&T's standard category of "large domestic orders," which typically range from US$283 million to US$566 million.
