CSL Australia will strengthen the supply chain of environmentally friendly iron in South Australia

Green Iron SA, a consortium formed to accelerate the development of the eco-friendly iron and steel ecosystem in South Australia, has announced that CSL Australia Pty Ltd, part of the Canadian CSL Group Inc., has become its new member. The addition provides important maritime opportunities to support the state's aspirations to become a major low-carbon iron production hub.

The self-unloading fleet supports magnetite logistics

CSL Australia is the country's largest owner-operator of self-unloading and reloading vessels with extensive experience in Upper Spencer Gulf.

The company operates a floating marine transshipment system. near Whyalla, which makes it possible to efficiently transfer magnetite iron ore from small feeder vessels to large Capesize vessels using self-unloading barges, floating cranes and telescopic ship loaders. These opportunities are closely linked to Green Iron SA's export requirements for high purity magnetite from the Braemar region.

Completion of the logistics corridor from the mine to the market

By joining the consortium, CSL strengthens the entire green iron value chain from the mine to the export terminal. The consortium partners are developing the infrastructure and logistical structure necessary to open up the Braemar iron region and position South Australia as the main supplier of high-purity magnetite raw materials for the production of green iron and steel.
