According to the Chinese Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), in January-October of this year, the total volume of shipbuilding production in China amounted to 43.34 million tons of deadweight (DWT), which is 8.2% more than last year.
During the specified period, orders for new vessels in China reached 71.73 million tons of deadweight, a decrease of 24.5% year-on-year. Meanwhile, as of the end of October this year, orders for ships on the balance sheet of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 244.2 million tons, which is 23.5 percent more than last year.
