Xia Nong, vice president of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), attended the recent symposium on the development of domestic iron ore resources "Iron Resources Development Plan" held in Beijing, during which he stressed that local iron producers should speed up key ore mining projects and complete planned tasks with high quality, aiming to reduce dependence on imports of the world's leading mining companies.
He further said that CISA will dynamically update the list of key iron ore projects, thoroughly understand the common problems faced by enterprises, conduct field surveys in key regions to obtain the real status of these projects, and promptly report its findings to relevant ministries. In addition, he added that CISA will also intensify its efforts to ensure the stable operation of domestic iron mines and promote supply-side structural reform in the steel sector, taking numerous measures to actively strengthen the resource security, capacity and productivity of the steel industry.
