In September this year, Japanese vehicle production (including cars, trucks and buses) totaled 760,764 units, down 0.1 percent from the same month in 2024, according to data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). Meanwhile, Japanese auto production rose 3.6 percent year-on-year to 6,219,150 units in the January-September 2025 period.
Japan's domestic auto sales totaled 428,216 vehicles in September, down 2.4 percent from the same month in 2024. Meanwhile, Japan's domestic auto sales rose five percent year-on-year to 3,465,408 units in the first nine months.
Meanwhile, the country's auto exports totaled 362,672 units in September, down two percent from last year. From January to September, Japanese car exports remained virtually stable year-on-year at 3,063,209 units.
