Promising characteristics of graphite
Early tests of Hazer graphite have yielded promising results in several applications, and further evaluation is ongoing.
The patented Hazer process provides a path to decarbonization of steel production through the joint production of cheap, pure hydrogen and high purity graphite using iron ore as a process catalyst.
The company is working with several major global steel producers to evaluate how hydrogen and graphite can reduce emissions on steel routes, including blast furnaces, where graphite or hydrogen injection can reduce coal use, and direct iron reduction (DRI) systems-electric arc furnaces (EDP), where pure hydrogen can serve as a reducing agent.
