Spanish stainless steel manufacturer Acerinox S.
A. has launched EcoACX®, a new grade of ultra-low carbon stainless steel that is positioned as the most environmentally friendly product the company offers to date.
Designed to support global decarbonization, EcoACX® provides the same durability, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance as Acerinox stainless steels, but with a significantly smaller carbon footprint. The product is designed to help customers reliably reduce Scope 3 emissions.
Verified Sustainability
EcoACX® is made from more than 90 percent recycled materials and is produced using 100% renewable electricity. Acerinox said the new grade delivers a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions per metric ton compared to conventional stainless steel production.
Acerinox said EcoACX® is the only stainless steel grade in the world that includes three proven sustainability metrics, assessed using a proprietary measurement tool developed in-house.
