The SECURE 500® has a certified thickness range, now expanded from the previous 6-16 mm to 6-25 mm, while the SECURE 450® is certified for thickness from 6 mm up to 20 mm. The combination of SECURE 500® and SECURE 450® now allows the group to supply more than half of the steel needed for many armored vehicle variants.
According to the company, these certificates significantly increase the range of thicknesses that can be used in military and security applications, which allows Salzgitter to supply a large proportion of the material for European armored platforms.
Strengthening the defense supply chain in Europe
The approval comes at a time of growing demand for domestically produced protective steels, as European defense manufacturers are increasing production of armored vehicles, protective structures and ballistic systems.
Salzgitter emphasized that:
