Import of slabs to Turkey increased by 4.6 percent in January-October 2025

In October of this year, the import of slabs to Turkey amounted to 239,019 metric tons, which is 18.8 percent less than in September and 28.1 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $111.65 million, down 17.3% from the previous month and 34.0% year-on-year.

In the period from January to October, imports of slabs to Turkey totaled 3.22 million tons, an increase of 4.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 7.1 percent to $1.55 billion, year-on-year.

During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of slab imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.62 million tons, which is 35.6 percent more than last year. Russia was followed by Malaysia with 777,592 tons, which is 30% less, and Algeria with 516,647 tons, which is 579.9% more than last year.
