The company said its heat treatment capacity has been increased to 60,000 tons per month from 20,000 tons per month, making it the steel mill with the largest such facility in the country.
Heat treatment is the process of changing the properties of steel, such as hardness, toughness, and strength. The increased heat treatment capacity will allow JSL to better meet the needs of sectors such as infrastructure, mechanical engineering, energy and heavy machinery.
The company now offers a wide range of products in the categories of normalized (FN), tempered and tempered (Q&T) steel, the company said.
The plant is equipped for processing plates with a thickness range of 60-200 mm and a width of up to five meters.
JSL operates an integrated steel mill with a capacity of 12.6 million tons per year in the eastern state of Odisha.
