Wafer coil exports to the United States totaled 32,928 tons in August this year, down 2.6 percent month-on-month and down 23.4 percent year-over-year, according to U.S. Commerce Department export data. In value terms, coil slab exports were $37.84 million in August, compared to $37.79 million in the previous month and $46.96 million in the same month last year.
The United States shipped the most coil slabs to Mexico in August with 26,648 tons, compared to 28,328 tons in July and 33,890 tons in August last year. Canada was another popular destination with 6,142 metric tons. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 tons or more) for slab coil exports to the United States in August.
