According to U.S. Department of Commerce export data, U.S. exports of heavy building products (including U, I, H, L and T beams) totaled 18,927 tons in August of this year, down 1.1 percent from July and 50.7 percent less than last August. In value terms, beam exports totaled $28.4 million in August, up from $24.8 million the previous month and $40.5 million in the same month last year.
The United States shipped the most beams to Mexico in August, with 10,238 tons, compared to 0 tons in July and 10,608 tons in August last year. Other top destinations included Mexico with 6,161 tonnes and Vietnam with 1,527 tonnes. There were no other important export destinations for beams from the USA (1000 tons or more) in August
