Pig iron imports to Turkey increased by 73.4 percent in January-October 2025

In October of this year, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 189,875 metric tons, an increase of 3.8 percent compared to September and 94.6 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to $65.92 million, an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the previous month and 71.1 percent year-on-year.

In the first ten months of the year, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 1.86 million tons, an increase of 73.4 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 46.3 percent to $671.60 million, year-on-year.

Import of pig iron to Turkey - the last 12 months

During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of pig iron imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.45 million tons, which is 108.7 percent more than last year. Russia was followed by Kazakhstan with 133,803 tons, which is 14.7 percent less, and Ukraine with 75,386 tons, which is 4.1 percent more compared to the same period last year.
