According to media reports, the Ukrainian manufacturer of steel pipes and railway products Interpipe has signed an agreement to acquire the Romanian subsidiary of ArcelorMittal ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Roman S.
A., located in Luxembourg. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
Strengthening EU pipe production
The plant provides Interpipe with direct production capacity in the EU market, supporting closer proximity to European customers and shorter supply chains.
The acquisition is consistent with its strategy to expand its pipe processing and finishing operations in key export markets, particularly in Europe, where trade regulations, logistics and customer requirements increasingly favor local production.
Strategic rationale for the acquisition
The acquisition allows Interpipe to:
- expand its portfolio of industrial pipes in the EU,
- increase access to European infrastructure, engineering and industrial projects,
- to reduce dependence on cross-border exports by adding local production capacity,
- to integrate the Romanian plant into the existing European sales and distribution network.
