Brazil's steel production rose slightly in November

According to the Brazilian Steel Institute IABr, crude steel production in Brazil reached 2.800 million tons in November 2025, up from 2.781 million tons in November 2024.

On the same comparative basis, rolled steel production rose 3.0 percent to 2.011 million tons, with flat steel production increasing 13.7 percent to - 1.163 million tons, and long products production will fall by 8.8 percent to 848 thousand tons.  Similarly, domestic sales of steel products decreased by 6.5 percent to 1.814 million tons, and apparent consumption of steel products fell by 6.3 percent to 2.275 million tons, while exports increased by 28.1 percent to 907 000 tons, and imports fell 21.4 percent to 473,000 tons.  Comparing the first eleven months of 2025 and 2024, steel production fell 1.5 percent to 30.778 million tons, rolled steel production decreased 0.8 percent to 21.807 million tons, and production of semi-finished products for sale decreased 7.6 percent to 7.816 million tons.  However, during this period, domestic sales of steel products decreased by 0.6 percent to 19.612 million tons, apparent consumption increased by 2.5 percent to 24.859 million tons, imports increased by 6.9 percent to 6.017 million tons, and exports increased by 10.6 percent to 9.771 million tons. The IABr expects Brazil's crude steel production to fall 2.2 percent overall in 2025, to 33.1 million tons, reflecting a 20.5 percent increase in imports to 5.7 million tons, the highest volume in 15 years.  The IABr reports that predatory competition in the global steel industry has led to the loss of 5,000 jobs and the cancellation of investment in Brazil in the amount of 455 million US dollars.
