According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, hot-rolled steel exports to the United States totaled 22,383 tons in August this year, down 7.0 percent from July and 31.3 percent less than last August. In value terms, hot-rolled steel exports totaled $39.6 million in August, compared with $38.6 million in the previous month and $51.9 million in the same month last year.
The United States shipped the most hot-rolled steel to Mexico in August, with 12,740 tons, compared with 15,445 tons in July and 19,280 tons in August last year. Canada was the other top destination with 8,292 tons. There were no other significant directions for supplies of hot-rolled steel to the USA (1000 tons or more) in August
