According to Danieli, the upgraded mill will be able to process square workpieces with a diameter of 180 mm and round workpieces with a diameter of 205 mm, going beyond the current configuration of square workpieces with a diameter of 150 mm.
In addition, the plant manufacturer noted that the new layout has been designed with future scalability, allowing subsequent expansion to process round blanks up to 230 mm in diameter if Voestalpine moves forward with further adjustments to productivity or product range.
Danieli stated that the upgrade will be completed through two planned shutdowns, which will allow the manufacturer to maintain continuity of supply while introducing new equipment and configurations.
The Donawitz wire rod mill was originally supplied by Danieli in 2015, and the current project is a continuation of the long-term technical cooperation between the two companies.
