Ukrainian company Zaporizhstal, owned by Metinvest, announced that it had temporarily suspended production on December 23 after a complete loss of power supply following large-scale Russian attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.
According to the statement, the sudden outage led to an emergency shutdown of production, carried out in accordance with the plant's crisis response procedures. In extremely difficult conditions, the site team quickly switched to alternative power sources and ensured the safe shutdown of technological processes.
Thanks to the prompt response and coordinated actions of personnel, as well as emergency measures to minimize emergency situations, the company said that it avoided a man-made accident and reduced emissions into the atmosphere. Zaporizhstal emphasized that there is no threat to the life or health of employees or local residents.
The company has implemented operational measures to stabilize its internal energy system, while further resumption of production will occur after the restoration of external power supply.
